How to Make Traditional Blueberry Cheong

What is Cheong?

Cheong refers to fruit preserved with sugar, so jams and syrups like this blueberry Cheong recipe fall into this category.

Again, you want equal parts blueberries and brown, granulated sugar.

250g Blueberries

250g Granulated Sugar

Step 1. Wash and dry your blueberries, ensure your blueberries are completely dry before the next step.

Step 2. Add a layer of blueberries to a clean Kilner jar followed by a layer of sugar and build up ending with a final layer of sugar.

Step 3: Be patient and leave your jar in a cool, dry dark place for 3 months. This allows the fruits to break down and amalgamate with the sugar creating a delicious syrup.
